Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar has given his first public message since October 7. He said the terror group is facing a “fierce, violent and unprecedented battle” against Israel. However, he claimed that the terror group is on its way to crushing the Israel Defense Forces. He said that the Hamas will not submit to “the occupation’s conditions” indicating that ceasefire talks are nowhere near resolution. Meanwhile, The Israeli army approved the Supernova music festival’s permit despite a senior officer raising concerns over the security risk. Israeli media reports say Lt Colonel Sahar Fogel and others in charge of the Gaza division had opposed the permit due to the risk of rocket and mortar fire in the area. Fogel had also warned that the army would not have the capacity to secure the event as it was a religious holiday.

The attack targeted a bus carrying Israeli soldiers and settlers, leaving eight people injured, including three seriously. The assailant, 46-year-old Samir Muhammad Ahmad Hussein, ambushed the bus, shattering its windshield with over a dozen bullet holes. Israeli forces neutralised the assailant near the Ariel settlement. Hamas described the attack as a heroic operation.
In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes killed at least 40 Palestinians, including casualties in the Nuseirat refugee camp and Beit Lahiya. Medics recovered 19 bodies from northern Nuseirat and more fatalities were reported across Gaza. Israeli military operations disrupted rescue efforts as tanks entered and withdrew from northern Nuseirat.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem declared a "great victory" in Lebanon following a ceasefire. He emphasised coordination with the Lebanese army to enhance defensive capabilities. Separately, the Israeli army reported targeting a Hezbollah rocket launcher in southern Lebanon, citing ceasefire violations.
In Israel, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi hinted at resignation after October 7 attack investigations, pledging accountability and personal decisions once the probe concludes.

But Israel’s devastating retaliatory offensive in Gaza and its invasion of Lebanon, after months of fighting with the Hezbollah militant group, has stoked anger among Emiratis, Arab nationals and others living in the UAE.

Brussels wants to go green at lightning speed - and thus become less dependent on Russian gas and oil from the Middle East. As head of the cabinet of Frans Timmermans, Diederik Samsom is currently working in Brussels on 'his' Green Deal. According to Samsom, the need to be energy independent is greater than ever. The ambition is to extract the necessary green raw materials as close as possible, and preferably in Europe itself.
EU candidate member Serbia has become a contested field on the green raw materials chessboard because of this ambition. The country is rich in copper and lithium. The Chinese mining giant Zijin has already made headway there and recently opened a large copper mine, important for the construction of wind turbines.
But the EU is also looking at Serbian raw materials with interest. And especially lithium. That mineral is in the ground in the Jadar Valley. The plans of mining company Rio Tinto have been put on hold by the government because of a massive popular uprising against the arrival of the mine. Many Serbs are not waiting for the lithium economy to arrive in their country.

However, he claimed that the terror group is on its way to crushing the Israel Defense Forces. He said that the Hamas will not submit to “the occupation’s conditions” indicating that ceasefire talks are nowhere near resolution. Meanwhile, The Israeli army approved the Supernova music festival’s permit despite a senior officer raising concerns over the security risk. Israeli media reports say Lt Colonel Sahar Fogel and others in charge of the Gaza division had opposed the permit due to the risk of rocket and mortar fire in the area. Fogel had also warned that the army would not have the capacity to secure the event as it was a religious holiday.
