He added that the organisers did not agree with his request to change some of the lyrics and imagery used in the campaign that are ‘degrading’ to Africans. Now, with a new 40-year anniversary recording to be released in a few days, the MOBO award-winning artist is continuing to call out the issue – and has had other artists back him. “I understand that there might be good intentions … but there’s a way to do that without also kicking them while they’re down,” says the British-Ghanaian artist. Fuse ODG, who has recently launched an app about African history and languages, says the important thing is to lift up voices and tell stories that are often overlooked on the global stage – such as the fact that a cure for Ebola was discovered by a doctor from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dr Jean-Jacques Muyembe. In response to the growing backlash, Bob Geldof, one of the founders of Band Aid, told the Conversation: “This little pop song has kept hundreds of thousands if not millions of people alive. When Musk first tried to buy a Russian rocket back in 2001, the chief engineer of the Russian Space Agency thought he was a joke. But that only made Musk more determined. Rather than buy rockets, he decided to build them and invested $100 million dollars, half his fortune at the time, in the creation of SpaceX. By 2008 SpaceX had a contract with NASA to supply flights to the International Space Station. At around the same time Musk was founding SpaceX, Jeff Bezos was working on a secretive project to bring tourists to space. By 2015, he was ready to go public with a new rocket named the New Shepherd, the first reusable rocket to reach space. A year later, Musk announced an ambitious, widely ridiculed, plan to colonise Mars within 30 years. In the meantime, Bezos was working on plans to colonise the moon. When competition with China made returning to the moon a top priority for President Trump, there was one big question: which company would get the lucrative NASA moon contract? Aside from colonising space and NASA contracts, the two billionaires are also racing to launch the most satellites. This allows them to deliver low latency broadband data services everywhere on the Earth… and to monopolise all future terrestrial communications. Immediate action through a suspension of these products is critical to mitigate further risk. The summary reinforces the known and potential dangers of DNA contamination and highlights the need for an urgent and independent investigation. As advised by the co-signatories, the Department of Health and Aged Care has produced no evidence to demonstrate why the detected DNA contamination will not produce the dire adverse health outcomes detailed in the Science Summary. Additionally, I have reason to believe that multiple attempts by prominent scientists to warn the TGA of these risks have been disregarded since early 2021, raising serious questions about the agency's ability to protect the health and well-being of Australians. Finally, I draw your attention to the Biosecurity Act 2015, which may now be relevant. Given the contamination evidence, I recommend the Minister for Agriculture initiate a Biosecurity Import Risk Analysis of these products, potentially leading to the suspension of these products due to the risks they pose to human health. I gratefully acknowledge the assistance of the 52 co-signatories below in the preparation of this letter and reiterate my call seeking your urgent action to ensure the safety of all Australians. ,Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch's General Election campaign has met mixed responses – but one group whose vote he will definitely have is the staff at Corinthians Boxing Club. Corinthians Boxing Club’s Head Coach Kevin Corcoran told The Hard Shoulder about Mr Hutch’s generosity to their community organisation. “Gerald bought the building in Buckingham Street there 25 years ago outright and he gave us that building for one euro a years’ rent - that's all we have to pay,” he said. “Now, he doesn't collect the rent, obviously, but he gave us the building to run as a boxing club free of charge, basically.” Mr Corcoran said the club would not exist with Mr Hutch’s help. “Everyone knows rents, especially in the inner city, are crazy at the moment,” he said. “We probably be paying between €2,000 to €4,000 per month rent for that building, and we couldn't afford that. “We charge the kids €2 per night for training.” The coach said Mr Hutch very rarely visits the club, but when he’s in Ireland he always stops by. “When he comes home, he pops down and says hello, he comes in and says hello to the lads and has a look at the kids training,” he said. Mr Corcoran said The Monk is a “very popular man” in the area. “There's no other man, TD, anything that would buy a building and give it away to the local community,” he said. Mr Corcoran said Mr Hutch’s popularity could be due to his help with the boxing club, but he’s sure “people have their own reasons”.
