Pyongyang’s streets were lined with portraits of Russian President Vladimir Putin, footage released by North Korea's state-run television KRT showed on June 19, as the leader arrived for his first trip to the North Korean capital in 24 years. North Korean and Russian flags were seen hanging side-by-side as the facade of the unfinished and vacant 101-story pyramid-shaped Ryugyong Hotel was seen brightly lit with a giant message reading "Welcome Putin". Putin's Russian-made Aurus limousine carrying him and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un passed through the decorated streets during the start of a visit likely to reshape decades of Russia-North Korea relations at a time when both countries face international isolation. He added that the organisers did not agree with his request to change some of the lyrics and imagery used in the campaign that are ‘degrading’ to Africans. Now, with a new 40-year anniversary recording to be released in a few days, the MOBO award-winning artist is continuing to call out the issue – and has had other artists back him. “I understand that there might be good intentions … but there’s a way to do that without also kicking them while they’re down,” says the British-Ghanaian artist. Fuse ODG, who has recently launched an app about African history and languages, says the important thing is to lift up voices and tell stories that are often overlooked on the global stage – such as the fact that a cure for Ebola was discovered by a doctor from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dr Jean-Jacques Muyembe. In response to the growing backlash, Bob Geldof, one of the founders of Band Aid, told the Conversation: “This little pop song has kept hundreds of thousands if not millions of people alive. No, it's not Ben Carson … it's Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, whose resume during the COVID-19 lockdowns isn't stellar. Why? Here's Nesheiwat on Fox Business praising Facebook's approach to censoring anti-vaccine "disinformation" and hoping that other social media platforms would follow suit. Trump's pick for Surgeon General, Janette Nesheiwat, praised Facebook for censoring anti-vaccine information, adding that she will "hope and pray" other social media companies do the same. -- Nesheiwat was also a BIG fan of masking and social distancing. Janette Nesheiwat endorsed masks for children, promoted COVID vaccination for all age groups, and approved of censorship by social media companies.

Look, there's a lot we didn't know about COVID. But we know it now, so why regress? This is like when former Planned Parenthood President Dr. Leana Wen told CNN in December of 2021 that "cloth masks a little more than facial decoration" and don't work — after we'd all been forced to wear cloth masks. Or when President Joe Biden promised you wouldn't contract or spread COVID if you got the vaccine. Then Biden got COVID at least twice despite double-masking and getting every booster available. But no, we don't want anyone who praised social media for censoring discussion of the vaccine and its effectiveness. Let's hope she has revised her stance on these things in light of all the new information that has come out since the time of this interview.
