One group of people could even be seen where the sand usually is, sledging next to the water.
People appeared to have put travel on hold, with the roads completely silent, and the town barely visible between the fog.
East Midlands Airport closed its runway this morning after heavy snowfall blanketed the ground, halting flights.

On Tuesday, 19 November, Ball confirmed that she will step back from the show after six years to focus on her family.
She has presented the morning programme since 2019 when she took over from Chris Evans.
Her last show will be on 20 December.
Mills, who currently hosts Radio 2’s weekday afternoon programme from 2-4pm, will begin fronting the programme from early January.

The midfielder's overhead kick five minutes into stoppage time sent the match to extra time with captain Harry Kane’s header sealing a 2-1 victory a day after Bellingham's 21st birthday.
Bellingham celebrated his goal by raising his arms and shouting “Who else?” before seemingly gesturing a talking expression with his hand.
England will next face Switzerland in the tournament's quarter-finals.

,1,A Ryanair Boeing 737-Max airliner is under investigation after it descended at high speed on approach to Stansted Airport last year.
Flight FR1269 dived at 321mph after a two-hour journey from Klagenfurt, Austria to London on 4 December 2023.
According to flight data, the Boeing 737-Max made a steady descent to 2,350ft to prepare for landing in light rain at Stansted, but aborted the approach to climb for a go-around.
