Two things we have learned from Wells and Haldane. Man cannot play God and still stay sane. And the progress of biology is inescapably placing in man's hands the power to play God. But from these two facts it does not follow that there is no hope for us. We still can choose to be masters of our fate. To deny to any man the power to play God, it is not necessary to forbid him to experiment and explore. It is necessary only to make strict laws placing the application of his knowledge under public control.
Page 173: The man who did more than any other single person to rid the world of biological weapons is Matthew Meselson, professor of biology at Harvard. He came as I did to the ACDA (Arms Control and Disarmament Agency for the summer of 1963...
Page 185: "Do I dare disturb the universe?" a quote from T.S. Eliot 1917
Page 193: "The past and the future are not remote from us. The people six hundred years back and of six hundred years ahead are people like ourselves. They are our neighbors in this universe. Technology has caused, and will cause, profound changes in style of life and thought, seperating us from our neighbors. All the more precious, then, are the bonds of kinship that tie us all together." ~ Freeman Dyson

,1,"Never believe the things you tell yourself when you feel sad and alone. The words you say to yourself matter."
"No amount of regret can change the past and no amount of anxiety can predict the future. Instead of criticizing yourself, which makes things worse, accept who you are..."
"God is not in a hurry, you are! Gives your cares to God because He cares for you. Trade negative words for the many positive words found in scripture."

On top of that, the burial story in Mark is so extemely early that it's simply not possible for it to have been subject to legendary corruption."
Page 220 There is evidence that Mark was written before 37 A.D.
Chapter 13 The Evidence of Appearances
Page 235: "All of the gospels and Acts evidence - incident after incident, witness after witness, detail after detail, corroboration after corroboration- was extremely impressive. Although I tried, I couldn't think of any more thoroughly attested event in ancient history."
Chapter 14 The Cicumstantial Evidence
Page 249: "Muhammad claims he went into a cave and had a religious experience in which Allah revealed the Koran to him. There's no other eyewitness to verify this. Muhammad offered no publicly miraculous signs to certify anything."
Page 250: Five weeks after he's crucified, over ten thousand Jews are following him and claiming that he is the initiator of a new religion.
