,1,All Family Dollar locations are in jeopardy of permanently closing after their parent company, Dollar Tree, made a shocking announcement. Dollar Tree is pursuing a potential buyer of Family Dollar, which would mark the second time the company would be sold in less than ten years.
This news comes after it was announced that nearly 1,000 Family Dollar locations are closing due to poor performance. Slashing 10% of the struggling company's retail footprint may not be enough to save them. Dollar Tree has thrown in the proverbial white towel and given up on the ultra-low-cost retailer. Aside from clear issues with management, Family Dollar is suffering due to stiff competition from Walmart, Target, and even the Chinese online retailer Temu.
