A private aerospace enterprise in China successfully launched the most powerful solid-fuel rocket from a ship.
The Gravity-1 was blasted from a ship off the eastern coast of Shandong province.
The rocket has a thrust of 600 tonnes and can lift 6,500kg of cargo into near earth orbit.
That's nearly twice as much weight as the European Space Agency's Vega-C, the previous record holder.
Gravity-1's launch being from a mobile sea platform increases the number of potential launch sites.

The Syrian army and Russia denied attacking civilians and said they had targeted insurgent hideouts located mostly in Hama and Idlib.
