Biden admitted, "We should have named it what it was," emphasizing that the act was actually about funding climate change with a $369 billion bill. This confession has triggered backlash as many Americans struggle with higher prices on groceries, rent, mortgages, and gas, which opponents claim were worsened by this bill. Kamala Harris, as the deciding vote, has also faced criticism for making life more expensive in the name of climate change.

Hunter Biden also made headlines by pleading guilty to multiple felonies and misdemeanors, including stealing $1.4 million from the IRS. Despite Joe Biden's previous reassurances of his son’s innocence, Hunter is scheduled for sentencing on December 16th. Update on the conflict in Ukraine for August 19, 2024…

- As Ukrainian forces continue military operations in Kursk, Russia, the actual line of contact continues to crumble as Russian forces advance;

- Ukrainian progress in Kursk was due to a lack of Russian troops which are now flooding the area to contain and then roll back Ukrainian troops;

- Russian advances along the line of contact consists of overtaking extensive Ukrainian defensive positions;

- The Kursk incursion will raise the cost for Russia, but ultimately will accelerate the collapse of Ukraine’s own fighting capacity;

- US JASSM cruise missiles are being considered for Ukraine, a critical munition required for any future operation against China and a munition that is not produced in quantities equal or larger than even Russian-made cruise missiles;

- JASSMs are air-launched, meaning their use will be restricted by Ukraine’s small number of military aircraft capable of launching them;

Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts on relations between the United States and Iran, and with your concerns about the Iranian nuclear program. It is good to hear from you.

Please know that I share your concerns about the Iranian government’s nuclear program. Like you, I am troubled by Iran’s uranium enrichment program and by the repeated test-firing of missiles by the Iranian military. I believe Iran should take concrete steps to address the international community’s concerns about its nuclear program. By doing so, Iran could begin to play a more constructive role in the Middle East.

I am also troubled by recent threats to restrict commerce through the Strait of Hormuz. This strategic gateway to the Persian Gulf is critical to the shipment of crude oil from the region. This action would not only threaten the United States’ access to our allies in the Gulf, but it would also pose a threat to the world economy by restricting the supply of oil.
.
Thus, I support the robust diplomatic efforts of the Obama Administration to address the Iranian nuclear program and other issues affecting U.S.-Iran relations. Please know that I will monitor these efforts very closely. I was also encouraged by Iran’s recent participation in diplomatic talks with our United Nations allies.

I believe thoughtful sanctions have a role to play in changing Iranian behavior. In this Congress, I cosponsored S. 1048, the Iran, North Korea, and Syria Sanctions Act 2011. The bill, which enjoys wide bipartisan support, was designed to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. It would give the President a needed tool as the administration pursues diplomacy on a range of issues including the Iranian nuclear program. I was also a cosponsor of the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act of 2010, which was signed into law by President Obama on July 1, 2010. Most recently, I voted for additional sanctions on Iran’s Central Bank during the consideration of the fiscal year 2012 National Defense Authorization Act.

May I wish you and your family a Happy New Year? With your support and that of your fellow senators, may the New Year bring great hope and joy to the Palestinian people and the realization of their wish for a homeland in Palestine.

Thank you very much for your reply. You said, “Like you, I am frustrated and disappointed that a comprehensive and lasting peace to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to remain outside of our reach. The loss of life that has occurred on both sides in recent years is greatly troubling, which is why I have supported efforts to revive the stalled peace talks, address humanitarian needs, and put in place measures to reduce civilian casualties.”

Do you know why a lasting peace is still a pipe dream? This was what one contributor on the Charlie Rose website said, “During the Charlie Rose interview with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he stated that the over one and a half million Arab and Muslim refugees were “diluting” the Israeli culture, and for that reason, separate states would work better. He stated that if the refugees stayed in Israel then it would be like having two Palestinian states.”

That is a repulsive, racist, and separatist statement and is so sad to hear, don’t you agree? I would hate to be a refugee in a place that viewed me as nothing more than social and cultural dilution. What has made America what it is today? Cultural integration and enrichment (social dilution) have been the fuel for American success and the rich and wonderful blend of races, religions, and cultural traditions. Yet, surprisingly, despite Mr. Netanyahu’s strong distaste for cultural dilution, he continues to work against a two-state solution…how can he worry about “two Palestinian states”, when he will not even agree to one?

If we were racist and backward enough to apply Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu’s philosophy to the Jewish people and send them all back to their Israeli state to avoid “diluting the rest of the world’s culture”, then Mr. Netanyahu would quickly find that the Israeli land would not be able to accommodate them all!

We should always cherish Diversity because the inbred alternative is genetically bleak!”

Unfortunately, Benjamin Netanyahu wants the ‘status quo’ to remain. We have often heard the Israeli government tell the world that the Palestinians are trying to drive the Jews into the sea. Now who is driving who into the sea? And recently we heard from Newt Gingrich that the Palestinians are historically “an invented people” and that the Palestinian leadership has always sought to destroy Israel. Thank you for writing to me regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

Like you, I am frustrated and disappointed that a comprehensive and lasting peace to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to remain outside of our reach. The loss of life that has occurred on both sides in recent years is greatly troubling, which is why I have supported efforts to revive the stalled peace talks, address humanitarian needs, and put in place measures to reduce civilian casualties.

As you know, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas submitted an application for membership in the United Nations on September 23 rd, 2011. The application was then circulated and submitted to the U.N. Security Council. On September 28th, the application was referred to the Committee on Admission of New Members where it currently resides. The Security Council is expected to vote on the measure at some point in the fall of 2011. My hope is that following the highly anticipated vote in the U.N., we will be able to press forward with the peace process and ultimately bring about a lasting resolution to this conflict that respects the legitimate aspirations of both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.

I firmly believe that maintaining peace and security for our allies in the Middle East is critical to our country’s national security and to regional stability.
.

Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts on relations between the United States and Iran, and with your concerns about the Iranian nuclear program. It is good to hear from you.

Please know that I share your concerns about the Iranian government’s nuclear program. Like you, I am troubled by Iran’s uranium enrichment program and by the repeated test-firing of missiles by the Iranian military. I believe Iran should take concrete steps to address the international community’s concerns about its nuclear program. By doing so, Iran could begin to play a more constructive role in the Middle East.

I am also troubled by recent threats to restrict commerce through the Strait of Hormuz. This strategic gateway to the Persian Gulf is critical to the shipment of crude oil from the region. This action would not only threaten the United States’ access to our allies in the Gulf, but it would also pose a threat to the world economy by restricting the supply of oil.
.
Thus, I support the robust diplomatic efforts of the Obama Administration to address the Iranian nuclear program and other issues affecting U.S.-Iran relations. Please know that I will monitor these efforts very closely. I was also encouraged by Iran’s recent participation in diplomatic talks with our United Nations allies.
.
I believe thoughtful sanctions have a role to play in changing Iranian behavior. In this Congress, I cosponsored S. 1048, the Iran, North Korea, and Syria Sanctions Act 2011. The bill, which enjoys wide bipartisan support, was designed to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. It would give the President a needed tool as the administration pursues diplomacy on a range of issues including the Iranian nuclear program. I was also a cosponsor of the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act of 2010, which was signed into law by President Obama on July 1, 2010. Most recently, I voted for additional sanctions on Iran’s Central Bank during the consideration of the fiscal year 2012 National Defense Authorization Act.

May I wish you and your family a Happy New Year? With your support and that of your fellow senators, may the New Year bring great hope and joy to the Palestinian people and the realization of their wish for a homeland in Palestine.

Thank you very much for your reply. You said, “Like you, I am frustrated and disappointed that a comprehensive and lasting peace to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to remain outside of our reach. Do you know why a lasting peace is still a pipe dream? This was what one contributor on the Charlie Rose website said, “During the Charlie Rose interview with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he stated that the over one and a half million Arab and Muslim refugees were “diluting” the Israeli culture, and for that reason, separate states would work better. He stated that if the refugees stayed in Israel then it would be like having two Palestinian states.”

That is a repulsive, racist, and separatist statement and is so sad to hear, don’t you agree? I would hate to be a refugee in a place that viewed me as nothing more than social and cultural dilution. What has made America what it is today? Cultural integration and enrichment (social dilution) have been the fuel for American success and the rich and wonderful blend of races, religions, and cultural traditions. Yet, surprisingly, despite Mr. Netanyahu’s strong distaste for cultural dilution, he continues to work against a two-state solution…how can he worry about “two Palestinian states”, when he will not even agree to one?

If we were racist and backward enough to apply Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu’s philosophy to the Jewish people and send them all back to their Israeli state to avoid “diluting the rest of the world’s culture”, then Mr. Netanyahu would quickly find that the Israeli land would not be able to accommodate them all!

We should always cherish Diversity because the inbred alternative is genetically bleak!”

Now who is driving who into the sea? And recently we heard from Newt Gingrich that the Palestinians are historically “an invented people” and that the Palestinian leadership has always sought to destroy Israel. Thank you for writing to me regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

Like you, I am frustrated and disappointed that a comprehensive and lasting peace to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to remain outside of our reach. The loss of life that has occurred on both sides in recent years is greatly troubling, which is why I have supported efforts to revive the stalled peace talks, address humanitarian needs, and put in place measures to reduce civilian casualties.

As you know, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas submitted an application for membership in the United Nations on September 23 rd, 2011. The application was then circulated and submitted to the U.N. Security Council. On September 28th, the application was referred to the Committee on Admission of New Members where it currently resides. The Security Council is expected to vote on the measure at some point in the fall of 2011. My hope is that following the highly anticipated vote in the U.N., we will be able to press forward with the peace process and ultimately bring about a lasting resolution to this conflict that respects the legitimate aspirations of both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.

I firmly believe that maintaining peace and security for our allies in the Middle East is critical to our country’s national security and to regional stability.
.

Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts on relations between the United States and Iran, and with your concerns about the Iranian nuclear program. It is good to hear from you.

Please know that I share your concerns about the Iranian government’s nuclear program. Like you, I am troubled by Iran’s uranium enrichment program and by the repeated test-firing of missiles by the Iranian military. I believe Iran should take concrete steps to address the international community’s concerns about its nuclear program. By doing so, Iran could begin to play a more constructive role in the Middle East.
.
I am also troubled by recent threats to restrict commerce through the Strait of Hormuz. This strategic gateway to the Persian Gulf is critical to the shipment of crude oil from the region. This action would not only threaten the United States’ access to our allies in the Gulf, but it would also pose a threat to the world economy by restricting the supply of oil.
.
Thus, I support the robust diplomatic efforts of the Obama Administration to address the Iranian nuclear program and other issues affecting U.S.-Iran relations. Please know that I will monitor these efforts very closely. I was also encouraged by Iran’s recent participation in diplomatic talks with our United Nations allies.
.
I believe thoughtful sanctions have a role to play in changing Iranian behavior. In this Congress, I cosponsored S. 1048, the Iran, North Korea, and Syria Sanctions Act 2011. The bill, which enjoys wide bipartisan support, was designed to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. It would give the President a needed tool as the administration pursues diplomacy on a range of issues including the Iranian nuclear program. I was also a cosponsor of the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act of 2010, which was signed into law by President Obama on July 1, 2010. Most recently, I voted for additional sanctions on Iran’s Central Bank during the consideration of the fiscal year 2012 National Defense Authorization Act.

Please know that I share your concerns about Iran’s nuclear program, and that I will continue to closely monitor developments in Iran and the region. May I wish you and your family a Happy New Year? With your support and that of your fellow senators, may the New Year bring great hope and joy to the Palestinian people and the realization of their wish for a homeland in Palestine.

Thank you very much for your reply. You said, “Like you, I am frustrated and disappointed that a comprehensive and lasting peace to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to remain outside of our reach. Do you know why a lasting peace is still a pipe dream? This was what one contributor on the Charlie Rose website said, “During the Charlie Rose interview with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he stated that the over one and a half million Arab and Muslim refugees were “diluting” the Israeli culture, and for that reason, separate states would work better. He stated that if the refugees stayed in Israel then it would be like having two Palestinian states.”
.
That is a repulsive, racist, and separatist statement and is so sad to hear, don’t you agree? I would hate to be a refugee in a place that viewed me as nothing more than social and cultural dilution. What has made America what it is today? Cultural integration and enrichment (social dilution) have been the fuel for American success and the rich and wonderful blend of races, religions, and cultural traditions. Yet, surprisingly, despite Mr. Netanyahu’s strong distaste for cultural dilution, he continues to work against a two-state solution…how can he worry about “two Palestinian states”, when he will not even agree to one?

If we were racist and backward enough to apply Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu’s philosophy to the Jewish people and send them all back to their Israeli state to avoid “diluting the rest of the world’s culture”, then Mr. Netanyahu would quickly find that the Israeli land would not be able to accommodate them all!
.
We should always cherish Diversity because the inbred alternative is genetically bleak!”

Unfortunately, Benjamin Netanyahu wants the ‘status quo’ to remain. We have often heard the Israeli government tell the world that the Palestinians are trying to drive the Jews into the sea. Now who is driving who into the sea? And recently we heard from Newt Gingrich that the Palestinians are historically “an invented people” and that the Palestinian leadership has always sought to destroy Israel. How dare Mr. Gingrich, a politician with the ability to exert influence on the thinking of many Americans, make such a unilateral decision and espouse an opinion reaching millions of people that erases the legitimacy of an entire race of people.

Please do anything within your power to help the world come together as One People and One World. We cannot allow the Israelis’ and Palestinians’ conflict to divide our beautiful world. We can no longer afford to be spectators because the world needs us now more than ever. At the very least, please pray for the Israelis and Palestinians to have a bright future for their children because both parties have suffered enough.

Thank you for writing to me regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

Like you, I am frustrated and disappointed that a comprehensive and lasting peace to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to remain outside of our reach. The loss of life that has occurred on both sides in recent years is greatly troubling, which is why I have supported efforts to revive the stalled peace talks, address humanitarian needs, and put in place measures to reduce civilian casualties.
.
As you know, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas submitted an application for membership in the United Nations on September 23 rd, 2011. The application was then circulated and submitted to the U.N. Security Council. On September 28th, the application was referred to the Committee on Admission of New Members where it currently resides. The Security Council is expected to vote on the measure at some point in the fall of 2011. My hope is that following the highly anticipated vote in the U.N., we will be able to press forward with the peace process and ultimately bring about a lasting resolution to this conflict that respects the legitimate aspirations of both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.

I firmly believe that maintaining peace and security for our allies in the Middle East is critical to our country’s national security and to regional stability.
.
