Tori Dunn's father is speaking out after police revealed the suspect in his daughters murder, had a life-long criminal history, and was recently released on bail. “We need to bring awareness to our [broken] justice system and how badly we need justice reform... Tori was a young woman minding her own business, in her own home, in a good neighbourhood. This could have been anybody’s daughter.”

The suspect, 40-year-old Adam Mann, did have a long criminal history, going back 25 years. ⬇️

By 2009, Mann had 22 convictions in #Ontario and was sentenced to 12 years in prison for multiple charges, including armed robbery.

After prison, sources say Mann spent time in #Edmonton before moving to British Columbia, where he was sentenced to 2 years probation in March 2024, for obstructing a peace officer and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

In late April, he was accused of 2 counts of robbery in #Vancouver, but was released on $500 bail.

On May 26th, he was accused of stabbing a woman near a #Surrey SkyTrain station.

RCMP released a photo of the accused on May 28th, the same day he was arrested for breaching his probation.

Police then say they saw Mann, wanted Canada-wide warrant for robbery, smoking crack near an entrance to an SRO (single room occupancy hotel), and detained him, but on June 5th, Mann received only 10 days in jail for the breach of probation and was released again, just days before Tori Dunn's murder.

A GoFundMe was set up for the Dunn family to help with memorial costs and any out-of-pocket expenses relating to the investigation. At the time of this post, it has received $23,165 from friends, neighbours, co-workers and others.

,We constantly hear about cybercrime in the news, but do you have the knowledge to protect yourself from it? In this talk, information security expert Dr. Carrie Gates will cover the clues that can alert you to something being a scam, along with some of the common types of attacks, such as phishing, smishing and vishing. Dr. Gates joined Bank of America in October 2018 as a senior vice president in global information security. She has established a research program, working in partnership with universities, to pursue longer-term, higher-risk research in the security space that has the potential to improve the bank’s security posture. Her current portfolio includes broad investigations into audio deep fakes, misinformation, smishing, and adversarial machine learning. Previously, Gates has worked at a start-up as a distinguished engineer for both Dell and CA Technologies, and with CERT at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to starting her research career, she was the systems manager for the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University in Canada.
