April 14, 2023 — Horowitz: Time to end FBI group infiltration and surveillance schemes

We now know that the government creates more criminality with these operations than it solves. Let’s not forget that in 2016, thanks to the release of the 28 pages of the classified Saudi portion of the 9/11 Commission report, we know that the San Diego cell, which hijacked the plane flown into the Pentagon, rented a room together with an FBI informant. In 2020, while taking English and flight lessons, Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi rented a room in the residence of Abdussattar Shaikh, co-founder of the Islamic Centre of San Diego, who had been an FBI informant since 1994. Yet the FBI tells us it didn’t find out about this until three days after the attacks. What did the FBI know, and when did they know it?

the time has come to trade what little security we might have had from these programs in exchange for liberty from our own government violating our rights worse than what any external enemy has ever done to us.

To that end, 90% of the FBI’s $11 billion budget should be devolved to the states to engage in their own state law enforcement activities to replace the FBI, except for a few categories, such as international child sex trafficking. Likewise, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s $2.9 billion budget needs to be stripped of all domestic spying programs, and Homeland Security Investigations needs its $2.3 billion transferred to ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Office, which deals with removing criminal aliens, not targeting Americans.

Enough with the talk. Now is time for Republicans to deliver on their promises to defund and defang weaponized surveillance against Americans by utilizing the budget bills. If they wait much longer, it will likely be the last opportunity we have to even mount political opposition at all.

APRIL 11, 2023 — Conspiracy theories cause populism to rise, claims Spanish study

Two online surveys and an experiment

The authors started their study by carrying out an online survey of 2,887 adults. The aim was to establish if there was a link between those people who believe in four distinct conspiracy theories—those relating to 9/11, those relating to the pharmaceutical industry, those that claim that the world is dominated by secret groups, and those making claims about alien life—and a set of populist statements such as "many members of government are shameless" or "those who don't agree with my political views are misinformed." The authors indeed found a correlation: people who embrace conspiracy theories usually have populist attitudes.

The second part of the study involved a survey-based experiment: a group of participants were chosen at random and exposed to a conspiracy theory relating to the 9/11 attacks. Afterwards, they were asked a set of questions to find out their opinion about a number of strongly populist statements. The people who had been exposed to the conspiracy theory were much more likely to agree with them than those in the control group.

I hope this letter finds you well. I recently read your interview regarding your team's research on right-wing extremism and found it to be quite fascinating. However, I wanted to reach out to you regarding your use of the phrase "conspiracy theories" in relation to the 9/11 truth movement.

As someone who is seeking transparency, accountability, and justice for the events of 9/11, I take issue with the label of "conspiracy theory" that is often used to dismiss our concerns. The official narrative of 9/11, which has been used to justify wars and infringements on civil liberties, could itself be considered a conspiracy theory.

I understand that there are some who take their beliefs to extreme and unfounded levels, but it is unfair to paint the entire movement with such a broad brush. We are simply seeking answers to questions that have yet to be adequately addressed by the government and mainstream media.

I ask that you consider this perspective and approach the 9/11 truth movement with an open mind. We are not extremists, and our views are not limited to the left or right. We are simply seeking the truth and justice for the victims of 9/11. See 911Lawyers.org

Apr 10, 2023 — Mayor Adams, open the WTC records: The Ground Zero files held by New York City must be released

As a NYPD officer in 2001, Eric Adams was a first responder on 9/11 and the days that followed the terrorist destruction of the World Trade Center and the murder of thousands of New Yorkers, when the federal government assured everyone that the air at Ground Zero was fine to breathe.

Adams and all the other responders who toiled on The Pile for the rescue of the injured and the recovery of the bodies and the rebuilding later on were lied to. The air was not safe and a great many people, from firefighters to cops to construction workers, have gotten sick and died, with billions being paid in compensation for their suffering and to cover their medical costs.

The truth must come out and now, as mayor, Adams must open up the city’s files regarding the disaster.

Reps. Jerry Nadler and Dan Goldman have renewed a longstanding request for Adams to release any relevant documents about the WTC being held in the files.

Instead of saying yes, Adams is ducking behind his lawyers and saying that he’ll readily hand over everything if Congress passes a law shielding New York City from being sued brd on what’s in the hidden papers: “We are happy to work with your offices to determine potential federal funding sources and any necessary federal legislation to make production of documents economically and legally feasible for the City of New York.”

Such lawsuits are unlikely, as anyone who received a settlement from the federal Victim Compensation Fund had to agree to not take legal action. Furthermore, in the weeks after 9/11, Congress put a cap of $350 million in claims on how much New York City could be held liable.

As the world knows well, Rudy Giuliani was mayor at the time and his administration created and collected records about the biggest catastrophe in New York history. Neither Mike Bloomberg nor Bill de Blasio, listening to their lawyers, relinquished the documents. More than 20 years on, Adams must direct his administration to come clean.

Wayne Gretzky recounted how he was in Las Vegas for an event when he was approached by Barbara and Bernie Heeran, whose son Charlie was killed in the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. Gretzky and his wife were at the pool when the Heerans recognized him and shared their heartbreaking story. Gretzky said,

“They gave me his card and I said I’ll keep it in my wallet for life...”
