The Crna Legija, or Black Legion, was a fearsome Croat Elite Brigade, which consisted mainly of Bosniak and Croat refugees from eastern Bosnia, where the Chetniks carried some massacres and atrocities. Francetić fell in battle crossing the Drina River (as portraied in the song), while Boban disappeared in 1945. Many thought he was murdered by partisans, while some versions suggest that he joined the Crusaders (Croatian post-war guerrilla determined to expel the partisans and rebuild the NDH), or fleed to the US, joining the US. Army and falling in battle against the communists in the Korea War
