,1,He’s left it very late, but Rishi Sunak turned in probably his best performance of the general election in their final debate last night. But will it be enough to derail the predicted Labour landslide? And are voters even listening to him any more?
Kamal and Camilla draw parallels between this election and the campaigns in 1992 and 1997 and try to work out what sort of result we’re heading towards next week.
Plus, Kamal was in the post-debate ‘spin room’ and caught up with big beasts on both sides - Labour’s Darren Jones as well as Conservatives David Davis and Victoria Atkins. He also chatted to audience member Robert Blackstone, who crystallised the campaign as well as anyone when he asked - ‘are you two really the best we’ve got?’

,1,Nigel Farage claimed Rishi Sunak “hasn’t got the guts” to take the UK out of the European Convention on Human Rights and finally put an end to small boat Channel crossings.
The Reform leader told a crowd in Cheshire today that Britain must leave the ECHR in order to “take back control” of the nation’s borders.
Mr Farage said: “We will never send any planes to Rwanda. We will never send anybody to Rwanda all while we are part of the court based in Strasbourg that was set up with the best intentions immediately after World War Two with huge support from people like Winston Churchill.
“But that court that has now become activist, that court that has now become interventionist, that court that is no longer fit for purpose, and that court that says we cannot control our own borders, who might be here and who we can get rid of.”
He added: “Of course the lofty barrister Sir Keir [Starmer], he loves all these international courts and Sunak hasn’t got the guts to deal with it because it would split his own party. But we are clear: we must leave the European Court of Human Rights and take back control.”
Reform pledged in its manifesto to leave the ECHR. Mr Sunak has hinted he could be prepared to quit the ECHR if it stood in the way of his Rwanda flights.
The Tories pledged in their manifesto: “If we are forced to choose between our security and the jurisdiction of a foreign court, including the ECtHR, we will always choose our security.”

,1,North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un gifted Russian President Vladimir Putin a pair of Pungsan dogs, a local breed.
Kim and Putin were seen looking at the dogs tied to a fence covered in roses during a segment aired on he state-controlled Korean Central Television.
The two bonded over animals as Kim fed carrots to a horse while Putin looked on. The two also took turns to drive each other around in a Russian-built Aurus limousine.
Kim, known as a keen horseman, was famously pictured riding a white stallion in Mount Paektu during snowfall in photos released by state media in 2019, flooding the internet with online jokes and memes.
The horses Kim rode are symbolic for North Korea which named its economic effort to recover from the 1950-53 Korean War after the mythical winged horse Chollima. Putin has been pictured shirtless and riding a horse in photos released by Russian state media.
Pungsan dogs are a breed of hunting dogs native to a region in the northern part of North Korea. Former South Korean president Moon Jae-in also received a pair of white Pungsan dogs -- named "Gomi" and "Songgang" -- from Kim in 2018 at a time when inter-Korean relations saw a breakthrough.

,1,Chinese coast guards were pictured wielding axes and knives before a Filipino soldier lost his thumb in a clash in the South China Sea.
The Philippine sailor suffered the injury after what its military described as "intentional-high speed ramming" by the Chinese Coast Guard.
The incident is the latest outbreak of violence amid heightening tensions over who owns the disputed seas.
China claims 90 percent of the sea as its own sovereign territory but Taiwan and other Southeast Asian countries contest that.
Both China and the Philippines have accused each other of taking provocative action that infringes on their territory.
Monday’s clash occurred when Chinese boats blocked an attempt to resupply a Filipino outpost with food.

,1,Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un greeted each other warmly as the Russian president landed in Pyongyang on Wednesday for two days of talks with the North Korean leader.
Putin arrived for his first visit in 24 years, vowing to deepen trade and security ties with the reclusive nuclear-armed state and to support it against the United States.
Russian state media said Putin’s plane touched down in Pyongyang around 2.45am local time (6.45pm Tuesday BST) after a stopover in Russia’s far east.
The rare visit comes as North Korea becomes a key ally to Russia, sending five million artillery shells to Moscow since last summer and dozens of missiles in return for technical support on launching spy satellites.

,1,China is learning all sorts of useful stuff from the war in Ukraine about how far to push against established international norms; how to inoculate one’s country from a global backlash against bad behaviour and how to drive a wedge between one’s adversaries.

In this episode of Defence in Depth, Dominic Nicholls, The Telegraph’s associate editor, explains how, by invading Ukraine, Putin has shown his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping where the edges of Western tolerance for aggression lie.

,1,Chinese Coast Guard vessels caused two collisions with Philippine boats and hit another with water cannon, injuring four crew injured during a resupply mission in the South China Sea.
The incidents happened in waters around Second Thomas Shoal in the Spratly Islands where the countries have contesting maritime claims.
A Philippine government task force said in a statement that "China Coast Guard and Chinese Maritime Militia vessels harassed, blocked, deployed water cannons, and executed dangerous manoeuvres in another attempt to illegally impede or obstruct a routine resupply and rotation mission".
The China Coast Guard said it "took control measures" against Philippine ships' "illegal intrusion" in waters around the shoal.
The BRP Sindangan, along with a sister ship, had been deployed to support the military chartered Unaizah May 4 and Unaizah May 1 boats carrying replacement soldiers and supplies to Second Thomas Shoal, where Filipino troops are stationed on a grounded Philippine navy vessel, the BRP Sierra Madre.

The demonstration, the eighth such national march since the Oct 7 Hamas massacre, has put the Metropolitan Police under renewed scrutiny over its handling of such events, having previously been criticised by politicians and Jewish representatives for showing a lax approach to policing hate speech.

,1,The Clapham chemical attack suspect was a “good Muslim” despite claiming he had converted to Christianity to claim asylum in the UK, his friends have told The Telegraph.
Abdul Shakoor Ezedi, 35, told a shopkeeper at his favourite Middle Eastern speciality food store - where he bought Halal meat - how he planned to one day return to Afghanistan “to find a wife”.
Staff at the Byker butcher shop in the east of Newcastle, where Ezedi lived for about a year, said they were “horrified” that the pizza takeaway chef had been connected to the attack because he was a “good Muslim”.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the Halal butcher, who is a Kurdish Iranian, said Ezedi would pay £50 to £60 for a half a Halal sheep which he put in his freezer and would last a couple of weeks.

Mr Netanyahu added that Israel will continue the war until “absolute victory,” its remaining hostages are returned and Gaza is no longer a threat to Israel.
