,1,Video shows a 30 second time lapse of what the throat looks like after tonsillectomy surgery over 25 consecutive days. The surgery was performed in a young adult for chronic tonsillitis. Appearance at all time points is NORMAL without any infection. The main areas of concern for most patients undergoing tonsillectomy healing is the swollen uvula and white eschar that appears, but as you can see here, that is expected and usual. White eschar may or may not be present on the uvula. Hopefully this video provides reassurance on normal recovery after tonsil removal.

,1,This video depicts the overall appearance before and after the lingual tonsils get surgically removed. The lingual tonsils are located in the base of tongue region... essentially, the area of the tongue AFTER you go around the bend of the tongue you see in the back of the mouth and then downwards. This surgical procedure is performed really only under 2 circumstances... for cancer reasons or for obstructive sleep apnea (the lingual tonsils are so large that they cause airway obstruction during sleep). Although possible to remove with traditional surgical tools, this procedure is now most commonly performed via Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery (TORS).
