A Google TechTalk, presented by Jordan Frery, 2024-05-08 ABSTRACT: In the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence, the commitment to data privacy and intellectual property protection during Machine Learning operations has become a foundational necessity for society and businesses handling sensitive data. This is especially critical in sectors such as healthcare and finance, where ensuring confidentiality and safeguarding proprietary information are not just ethical imperatives but essential business requirements. This presentation goes into the role of Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), based on the open-source library Concrete ML, in advancing secure and privacy-preserving ML applications. We begin with an overview of Concrete ML, emphasizing how practical FHE for ML was made possible. This sets the stage for discussing how FHE is applied to ML inference, demonstrating its capability to perform secure inference on encrypted data across various models. After inference, we speak about another important FHE application, the FHE training and how encrypted data from multiple sources can be used for training without compromising individual user's privacy. FHE has lots of synergies with other technologies, in particular Federated Learning: we show how this integration strengthens privacy-preserving features of ML models during the full pipeline, training and inference. Finally, we address the application of FHE in generative AI and the development of Hybrid FHE models (which are the subject of our RSA 2024 presentation). This approach represents a strategic balance between intellectual property protection, user privacy and computational performance, offering solutions to the challenges of securing one of the most important AI applications of our times. Posted • November 24, 2024: In the grand scheme of things, "Surgeon General" is a wasteful and often counterproductive (assuming the goal is actually improving public health and not advancing special interests) position that Trump should do away with entirely. No one needs a sleazy bureaucrat in a silly admiral costume using their tax money to tell them how to live their lives — much less issuing pseudoscientific edicts for unclear and nefarious purposes, as we have been subject to for many years now. What we need, in my opinion and apparently many other Americans’ given the recent election results, is a bulldog like RFK Jr., doctor or not, to clean up the water, air, drug, and food supplies through — and I know this is anathema to conservative orthodoxy, but I believe it’s necessary in the real world with bad industry actors who don’t care about human health and often, indeed, seem hellbent on ruining it — regulations that make sense and that are applied honestly and aggressively.

But anyway, if this government bloat is to continue in perpetuity, the Surgeon General ought rightly to be someone exactly not like Janette Nesheiwat, Trump’s nominee. Nesheiwat, who specialized in emergency and family medicine, has supported vaccines that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s nominee for HHS secretary, has cast doubts about. Janette has not just “supported vaccines”; she has actively promoted and praised censorship of dissident voices on the topic in the alleged service of Public Health™. She called the COVID “vaccines” — which are not now and never were real vaccines and which killed and maimed more people than we can perhaps ever fully account for — a “gift from God.” https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GdB_7k9WYAA4Toj?format=jpg&name=large

She also fearmongered in 2021 on nominally conservative Fox News with no pushback from the “journalist” interviewing her about COVID “putting our children in the hospital in record numbers” and, as a result, hospitals were “running out of ICU beds.” Both claims were lies. None of this garbage is what American voters signed off on when they elected Trump. (…)

The clearing of the unconscious mind is crucial in all sadhana practice because unresolved samskaras (latent impressions or karmic imprints) can obscure true freedom and perpetuate suffering, even when one has glimpses of awakening or higher states of consciousness. Without addressing these deeply ingrained patterns, there is a risk of spiritual bypassing—using spiritual practices or insights to avoid confronting and integrating unresolved psychological and emotional issues. The clearing process is the part of meditation that involves rewiring and takes time- often many years of dedicated work to shift the patterns within the self structure and to grow the inner lotus. To understand meditation in this way invites practitioners to stop chasing after enlightenment or peak experiences and to recognize that the act of sitting, fully present, is the awakened state. While at the same time we continue to purify and evolve the self structure become an optimal vessel for awareness to shine through, creating the conditions for deeper Samadhi, and infinite possibilities for direct experiences with life.
