The Epic of Gilgamesh may be considered a biography of a legendary king, a love story, a comedy, a tragedy, a precarious adventure, or perhaps an anthology of origin stories. All these elements are present in the narrative, and the diversity of the text is only matched by its literary sophistication. Perhaps surprisingly, given the extreme antiquity of the material, the epic is a masterful blending of complex existential queries, rich imagery, and dynamic characters. Despite being two thirds god, Gilgamesh remains a very human character, one who experiences the same heartbreaks, limitations and simple pleasures that shape the universal quality of the human condition.

Most of our viewers are very well acquainted with the term UFO and are likely familiar with the many sightings and contact accounts since the 1940s and the entire 20th century for that matter. But, was this the only period in human history where such unexplained craft appeared? The answer is of course no. There are literally hundreds of written accounts from around the world prior to the 20th century describing unusual craft in the skies. The main difference in those accounts as compared to the modern ones, is the lack of photographs and videos that record the event. With that said, it is the Archive’s opinion that the lack of such modern recording technology does not make these written accounts any less credible.
This presentation begins with the written accounts from the 19th century and then stretches back several millennia to catalogue sightings of UFOs before they were actually called UFOs. Of course, we cannot itemize every single event throughout our known history, but we are certain that we have enough to satisfy the curiosity of even the most experienced UFO aficionados among us.

The translation "Book of the Just Man" is the traditional Greek and Latin translation, while the transliterated form "Jasher" is found in the Apocrypha section of the King James Bible. The authentic version of the Book of Jasher was presented in 1840 and sold to a New York Jewish publisher in 1887. The book was printed in 1887 by Hyrum Parry Printing Company of Salt Lake City after they obtained rights to the New York edition of 1840. During the 18th century there were also fraudulent copies of the Book of Jasher that were published. The book is mentioned twice in the Hebrew Bible: Joshua 10: 13 and 2 Samuel 1: 18.
