,1,The Andromeda galaxy is one of those galaxies that can be seen with the naked eye. It appears as a fuzzy milky dot in the sky. It's about 2.48 million light years from the planet we call Earth. It has a diameter of 2,000 light years and many similarities with our Milky Way galaxy. First, a Muslim scientist and a Sufi described it in their book in 1612.
