Briefing the media in Johannesburg after two days of deliberations, the sherpas say the priorities of South Africa's presidency of inclusive growth and food security require open and free trade. The South African representatives say trade protectionism should be dealt away with if these priorties are to gain impetus during it presidency.

The department spends billions of rands each year on private accommodation for students through mainly the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. The minister, along with various funding bodies, further engaged with students at the Middelburg TVET College on the various funding opportunities for their studies.
