The province of KwaZulu-Natal, which had the largest ANC support base, only managed to receive 17% of the votes. Mashatile was on a visit to Pietermaritzburg, where he met with traditional leadership and communities, ahead of by-elections set to take place next week. Speaking on the future of the Provincial Executive Committee, the Deputy President said they would not dissolve any structure.
