That same year, an illegal slave ship, Clotilde, arrived in Mobile, Alabama, carrying the last slaves to be brought to America, from Africa. In 2018, editor Deborah Plant published a forgotten book by acclaimed African-American writer Zora Neale Hurston. It told the true story of the Clotilde.
