Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has issued an apology for altering a family photograph that was subsequently retracted by several leading news organizations.
On Monday, Catherine expressed her regrets for the misunderstanding related to the edited image, captured by her husband, Prince William. The picture was originally published on Sunday to commemorate the U.K.'s Mother's Day.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. U.K. time on Monday, Catherine addressed the issue on X (previously known as Twitter), stating, "As someone who enjoys photography, I occasionally experiment with photo editing. My intention was to apologize for any confusion caused by the edited family photo we shared. I hope everyone who celebrated had a joyous Mother's Day."
Following her statement on social media, where she signed off with her initial "C" for Catherine, major photo agencies including the Associated Press (AP) and Reuters removed the photograph from their platforms, citing allegations of digital alteration.
Insiders close to the Duchess informed PEOPLE magazine that Catherine applied "minor adjustments" to what was described as an "informal, family photo taken by the Prince of Wales."
The intent behind releasing the photograph, according to the source, was to provide a casual glimpse into the family's life on Mother’s Day. "The family enjoyed their Mother's Day together, marking it as a special occasion," the source noted.

The FBI said that it “routinely notifies” private sector entities, including social media companies, of information related to potential threats after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Facebook limited the distribution of a controversial story leading up to the 2020 presidential election because of an FBI warning.
The statement followed Zuckerberg’s appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast on Thursday in which Zuckerberg said Facebook limited stories on the news feed related to the New York Post’s article about President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and his laptop after the FBI warned the company to be aware of potentially polarizing content. - The Hill

While speaking with Tim Pool, the host of the right-wing YouTube channel with 1.4 million subscribers, West dove into a tirade over the recent media backlash surrounding his anti-semitic comments.
“I just got to go to the heart of this antisemite claim,” Ye said before accusing Gap, Adidas, his former personal trainer, former presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, and more of participating in a Jewish-led conspiracy to sabotage his career.
But once Pool began questioning the rapper, Ye threatened to walk off set. “I feel like it’s a setup … I’m going to walk the fuck off the show if I’m having to talk about, ‘You can’t say Jewish people did it,’ when every sensible person knows — that Jon Stewart knows — what happened to me, and they took it to far.” - Rolling Stones
The Australian federal government is planning to de-anonymize the internet to introduce a social credit system to combat "online abuse" - police will have access to individuals' social media accounts, which will be linked to people's passports. - LADY AMINA
And the government of South Australia, one of the country’s six states, developed and is now testing an app as Orwellian as any in the free world to enforce its quarantine rules. People in South Australia will be forced to download an app that combines facial recognition and geolocation. The state will text them at random times, and thereafter they will have 15 minutes to take a picture of their face in the location where they are supposed to be. Should they fail, the local police department will be sent to follow up in person. “We don’t tell them how often or when, on a random basis they have to reply within 15 minutes,” Premier Steven Marshall explained. “I think every South Australian should feel pretty proud that we are the national pilot for the home-based quarantine app.” - The Atlantic
